Shabby Chic

Wednesday's episode of The Apprentice was all about decorating a large loft space in Brick Lane with second-hand pieces to sell to the British public for one day.  The two teams battled it out to make the most profit, one team clearly getting confused about the kind of 'vintage' items that the trendy locals of Brick Lane would be attracted to. During the process, the term 'shabby chic' got thrown around a lot. It's a look I like a lot, if it's done right - old and possibly unwanted objects given a new life to create individuality and homeliness to a room.  If it's done wrong however it can look like you've converted your house into a car boot sale!

The best part about buying second-hand or vintage-looking pieces is that if you're lucky you can get them quite cheap. I'm really happy about the large old-fashioned wall clock I bought from The Gift Company for only £3! Bargain.
