Alex Clare

Ph: Bldgwlf
Alex Clare is a British singer-songwriter from London, England.
His music is a mix of soul, dubstep and drum & bass, a great combination in my opinion.

Fun fact: Alex dated Amy Winehouse for a year before he achieved critical success.

Minx Nails

Minx Nails is the latest must-have for your fingertips.
A heat activated film with adhesive backing, Minx provides a variety of beautiful designs, colours and high gloss shine that you're unlikely to get from any standard nail polish. It's a favourite with celebrities such as Rihanna, Beyoncé and Katy Perry, and has been on the catwalks of Alexander McQueen and Thierry Mugler. It obviously won't be the cheapest way to decorate your nails but it's worth it for a special treat or occasion. My personal favourites are their floral designs.

Fancy giving it a go? Minx Nails are most widely available in the U.S.
U.K. residents can find their Minx needs from Sweet Squared
All photos obtained from Minx.

Can't afford to fork out on designer nails?
It's quite easy to create your own designs, plus you get the added pleasure of having your own unique creations. For my nails below I added different-sized dabs of colours
onto my nails and then outlined them by dipping the back of an earring in black nail polish (even better if you have a thin brush to work with!)

Never Let Me Go

Love Florence + The Machine's most recent track 'Never Let Me Go'
I can imagine it appearing in lots of TV Dramas - it's already featured in ITV's 'Titanic' and 'The Vampire Diaries'.

Hardly surprising that Florence + The Machine has created yet more great music.

Alternative rock duo from Brighton, England:
Steven Ansell and Laura Mary-Carter.

Hadn't heard of  Blood Red Shoes until today but they have a number of songs recorded, some of them quite good.

Shabby Chic

Wednesday's episode of The Apprentice was all about decorating a large loft space in Brick Lane with second-hand pieces to sell to the British public for one day.  The two teams battled it out to make the most profit, one team clearly getting confused about the kind of 'vintage' items that the trendy locals of Brick Lane would be attracted to. During the process, the term 'shabby chic' got thrown around a lot. It's a look I like a lot, if it's done right - old and possibly unwanted objects given a new life to create individuality and homeliness to a room.  If it's done wrong however it can look like you've converted your house into a car boot sale!

The best part about buying second-hand or vintage-looking pieces is that if you're lucky you can get them quite cheap. I'm really happy about the large old-fashioned wall clock I bought from The Gift Company for only £3! Bargain.

Rings & Tings

Rings & Tings started off as a stall selling jewellery in Brick Lane market and has now become a popular online fashion haus selling unique affordable fashion inspired by the streets of London. I absolutely love their designs, especially their ring collection.

Thinking of Inking?

Recently I've seen several of my friends making the decision to get a tattoo - body ink ranging from the symbol of their favourite band, favourite animal, flowers, a skull, etc. Personally I don't think I'll ever get one, I'm far too indecisive! It takes me ages to choose from a menu, let alone something that I'll have to see everyday of my life! If I ever did get one it would have to be something small and extremely meaningful. I do quite like the idea of using the body as a canvas for creativity though, and have occasionally taken to doodling on my hands and arms...

What's your vote?
Are they hot / beautiful
 or trashy / unnecessary

If you're not decided on what you think of tattoos, you could always try them out Big Bang Theory style with tattoo sleeves...
